Research questions
Can a convergence of welfare state arragements be absovered in an expanded europe in the period from 1995-2007/2008? And if yes, in which direction (race to the bottom, race to the top, or new model)? Or do national differences and different types of welfare state regimes continue to exist? If yes, do the post-communist countries of Central and Eastern Europe adapt Western European regime types or do they form a separate regime type?

To which extent and in which way does globalization effects in form of diffusion occur in highly industrialized OECD countries between 1960 and 2009? Which forms of diffusion processes had the biggest influence on national policies in the areas of taxes, social affairs, and the environment?
