Einführung in die vergleichende Politikwissenschaft.

(Introduction to Comparative Politics)

Wiesbaden: VS-Verlag. 2006.

Introduction to Comparative Politics is a modern textbook that covers the issues, logic, theories and methods of comparative politics. It assumes comparative politics to be a discipline within political science that is defined by the comparative method. Quite often in political science, the only means to determine evidence-based assumptions about social processes which can be generalized is the comparative method. However, a systematic comparison must meet certain criteria – a number of factors have to be taken into account in order for the comparative method to be applied successfully.

The textbook is the only German monograph on comparative politics which has been published recently. In his textbook, the author gives an in-depth overview of the issues, logic, theories and methods of comparative politics. This practical introductory course allows readers to gain an understanding of the basics of comparative political science and describes how to acquire more detailed knowledge of the subject. The book is written for freshmen as well as for more advanced students.
