Alumni Association of the Department of Political Science and Communication Studies

A large number of young people have studied communication science and political science at the University of Greifswald over the years. Researchers and lecturers have been shaping the past, present and future of these subject areas with their ideas and projects for decades. After graduating, our alumni pursue a wide variety of careers. Whether as researchers at universities or non-university research institutions, in political consulting, in non-governmental organisations, at the EU or in political parties – our alumni are at home in a wide variety of professional fields both in Germany and further afield.

We are delighted that we have been able to connect all these people with each other beyond their time in Greifswald since the founding of the association in 2017 and its reorientation in 2024. As friends, supporters, students and former students of communication studies and political science in Greifswald, as well as lecturers in the subject areas, the Alumni Association provides a platform to exchange ideas and network with each other. Together, we want to prepare future graduates for their careers through various events and realise joint projects to contribute to political education and culture, especially in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Last but not least, our association aims to promote and support teaching and research in political science and communication studies at the University of Greifswald. All of the association's goals can be found in our statutes.

Why become a member?

The association offers a unique platform for staying in touch after graduation – whether through networking events, the IPK Weekend with highlights such as the football tournament, or exciting career events. The Alumni Association promotes exchange between graduates and students and provides valuable insights into career prospects.

Get involved and benefit – even during your studies

Membership is not only worthwhile for graduates. Students are also welcome to join the association and actively participate in alumni activities. Those who join early can build their networks, help organise events and make important contacts for the future during their studies.
